Sales Figures: Britney Spears & Chis Brown Continue To Flop

  Britney Spears was once major force on the Billboard charts but now it seems that her ability to sell records has diminished along with her skills on the dance floor. Indeed, after only 1 week at #1, her ‘Femme Fatale’ album has already been replaced.

However, the LP was not evicted from the top spot by a new release; it was forced out by Adele’s ‘21′ which returns to the summit of tally after 8 weeks on the chart. It seems that lights in Spears’ circus have begun to dim.

Spears’ ‘Fatale’ sold a mere 76k this week, representing a striking 73% dip in sales. The album now sits at #2 on the Billboard 200 behind ‘21′ which moved another 88k units and became the 1st album of 2011 to sell more than 1 million copies in the US (1.03 million to be exact).

Further down the list, Wiz Khalifa’s ‘Rolling Papers’ slipped from #2 to #5 with 59k (down 70%) and convicted felon Fist Brown’s ‘F.A.M.E’ continues to flop, dropping from #4 to #6 selling a pathetic 51k (down 44%). At this rate, 'F.A.M.E' will never reach platinum. Lastly, Kirk Franklin’s ‘Hello Fear’ experienced a minor sales decrease, falling 1 spot to #10 with 31k (down 33%).

Jalen Rose pulled off the air by ESPN for DUI controversy

ESPN analyst and former NBA player Jalen Rose has been in the news quite a bit lately, mostly for his controversial statements about Duke's recruiting practices in the excellent Fab Five documentary Rose produced for ESPN. The story surrounding his "Uncle Tom" remarks has mostly focused on the accuracy of the term, but the context of the statement -- that, ultimately, Rose clearly held that opinion in the past and explained that it was the product of ignorance and bitterness -- has proven that Rose is a thoughtful commentator with a too rare amount of self-awareness.

Sadly, that quality makes the latest Rose news all the more disappointing. As reported earlier this week by WDIV in Detroit, Rose was cited for a DUI in early March and neglected to tell anyone at ESPN about the incident. The Poynter Review Project Blog, the network's ombudsman, rightfully noted yesterday that the situation has compromised ESPN. And now, as reported by Michael McCarthy at USA Today, Rose has been pulled off the air:

ESPN is pulling Jalen Rose off the air after a report found the NBA basketball analyst waited almost three weeks to tell his employers about his arrest in Michigan on suspicion of drunk driving.

"Jalen has accepted full responsibility for his actions. Both parties are taking this very seriously, and as a result, we've agreed that he will not be on our air while he addresses this situation," said ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz in an email to Game On!

To clarify, Rose has not been fired or officially suspended -- he's just off the air for the time being as ESPN sorts out what should be done. However, it wouldn't be shocking if they parted ways, which would be a sad turn of events given that Rose's profile as a commentator has only become larger since the Fab Five documentary aired last month.

At the same time, it's likely that Rose would not have been given such brand-building attention if his DUI arrest had become public knowledge. He should have told ESPN about his troubles, but the decision not to could very well have been influenced by the need to promote his documentary. There were considerations here beyond his responsibilities to his employer. While that doesn't excuse his actions, it does help explain them.

Still, even with this DUI controversy becoming an issue, it's likely that Rose will come out of the events of the past month with a net positive gain for his career. His work with the Fab Five doc has been recognized for its thoughtfulness and candor, and more people around basketball are starting to acknowledge that he's one of the best commentators working today. His career will be fine. That might not be a fair outcome given the seriousness of not being forthcoming about a DUI arrest, but it's also how the TV business usually works.

 ...And he wonders why Duke didn't want him.

Nicki Minaj in Talks to Tour with Britney Spears

      Hold onto your wigs. Nicki Minaj may be heading out on the road with Britney Spears. The Young Money diva is said to be in negotiations to open for the pop queen’s summer tour.

TMZ reports that Spears has eyed Minaj as her opening act for the upcoming North American trek. Lawyers for the two stars are in “serious talks.”

Sources say that things are looking very good and that they should reach an agreement in the next day or so. The Lil Kim clone would replace Enrique Iglesias, who pulled out of Spears’ tour at the last minute.

Nicki is currently traveling the country with Lil Wayne on his “I Am Music II” tour, which wraps April 28. Britney’s tour is scheduled to begin on June 17.   This will be a very good business venture for Nicki Minaj to broaden her already wide fan base.  I also think this is a better choice then Enrique Iglesias. If this deal is finalized it will benefit everybody including the fans.

Atlanta Police Impound Allen Iverson’s Lambo…

Word on the curb is that former NBA baller Allen “Money Bagz” Iverson lost his ride last night on the mean streets of Atlanta.

Iverson was riding around town in his silver 2009 Lamborghini when he was pulled over last night by Atlanta Police for riding with expired dealer tags.
According to TMZ, A.I.’s Lambo is now sitting in an Atlanta impound lot after authorities towed the whip and gave him a ticket.
Iverson didn’t seem to sweat the matter though. He merely cleared all of his belongings out of the Lambo and hopped into a friend’s Rolls-Royce, who so happened to be following behind him.

Who drives a car with no registration?  I guess Iverson was trying to stunt in the ATL.  Well getting the car out of impound and the ticket is going to cost more then the registration fee.

 This is truly funny, Wiz tattooing your name on his body is about as special as someone giving Oprah Winfrey a one dollar bill.  It just blends in with the rest of the tattoos.  If he really cared about Amber he would remove 80% of his tattoos and then get a proper Amber Rose tattoo.  Oh well it doesn't really matter their relationship will be over within a couple of months.  His pockets are not deep like Eddie Murphy or Kanye's pockets.

Miley Cyrus criticizes YouTube stars: Beliebers are not pleased

Singer Miley Cyrus slammed musical artists who launched to stardom by posting clips to YouTube, as she promoted her first tour in Australia.

“It should be harder to be an artist. You shouldn’t just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour,” Cyrus said when asked about singers like Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black, who got their start on the video sharing website.

The controversial teen pop star spoke to The Daily Telegraph ahead of her upcoming tour in Australia this June. No circus tricks, a few costume changes and a set list influenced by shout-outs from the crowd, for a ticket price less than $100, will be the key ingredients of her Gypsy Heart shows.

“I don’t lip-sync. I would rather someone say I sang like crap than have people see me lip-sync,” she said.

The 18-year-old who catapulted to fame in the Disney TV series “Hannah Montana” most recently made headlines for smoking a herbal substance in a bong.

“I mess up. There you go,” Cyrus said. “But if you live your life trying to be perfect, you don’t really live your life ever,” she continued.

She also said she is looking forward to launching her first tour in the country she most recently visited last year — with then-boyfriend actor Liam Hemsworth.

“I was only there for a week and I loved it so I’m looking forward to exploring and meeting a lot of people. Australians are a lot like southern people. You love BBQ as much as we do,” she added.

Jalen Rose was arrested earlier for drunk driving in Michigan. There have been rumors for years that Jalen was an alcoholic, I guess the DUI proves it!

Jim Jones Arrested In New York City For Suspended License

Another mark happens in Jim Jones' crazy 2011 storyline, with an album planned for next Tuesday.

Diplomats' emcee Jim Jones has been arrested in New York City today. TMZ.com has footage of the Harlem rapper being handcuffed outside of his Bentley coupe.

Details are still releasing, but reports indicate that Jim Jones has stopped for having a suspended license. The rapper remains in police custody through this afternoon.

Jones' upcoming album, Capo, is planned for next week, April 5th. Already in 2011, the rapper has been sued for topless scenes in his video last month, after surviving a car crash in January.

Times must be hard for the second string rappers, Juelz Santana was arrested in February for selling drugs.

Rapper and former Florida prison guard Rick Ross (real name: William Roberts) was arrested by Louisiana cops in March 2011 and charged with pot possession. Shreveport police responded to a hotel where Ross was staying after someone complained about smelling marijuana. The gangster rapper, 35, was issued a misdemeanor summons and released after posing for the above mug shot.

Foxy Brown Was Kicked Off Tom Joyner Cruise…

In case you haven’t heard, Foxy Brown was booted from Tom Joyner’s Fantastic Voyage cruise last week.

The fiery rapper ( real name: Inga Marchand) has been known to pitch a fit every now and then, but apparently old school radio host Tom Joyner is not the one to be messed with!

Joyner explained on his show last Friday (March 25), that he kicked Brown off of the cruise after her bad attitude became too much of a hassle.

According to Joyner, Brown’s behavior was so bad that she had to be “sent to her cabin” and “locked in … but that wasn’t enough.”

Brown hit up twitter to dispute the morning show host, referring to him as “Grandpa” and stating that whatever he said on the radio was a lie because she got much love while on the cruise ship.

Of course you recall Brown’s sordid history when it comes to cosmetics — in 2004, she faced assault charges for allegedly beating up two nail salon employees … and again in 2007 after allegedly beating up a beauty store employee.

Well it was Brown’s fingernails that landed her in hot water yet again!

Word on the curb is that Foxy was booted off the Royal Caribbean cruise because she flipped out after missing her at-sea manicure appointment…

According to TMZ, passengers on the cruise say Foxy set up a nail appointment on the ship last Monday — a day after the cruise took off — and she sauntered in three hours late.

The salon couldn’t accommodate Foxy when she rolled in off schedule, so what does she do? Act a damn fool!!

Foxy went completely ballistic.

Why would Tom Joner even book her for this cruise? I remember listening to the audio a couple weeks ago of Foxy hanging up the phone on Tom.
